This month in promoters corner we speak to Liam Daley the man behind successful London club night Shiva.
I know it’s rude to ask a lady, but how old are YOU?
Let’s say I’m too old to do afterparties but too young to play bingo!
Best club night you ever went to?
Space in Ibiza. What a club and what an atmosphere!
Why did you start to promote?
I got frustrated with promoters messing me about! So I decided to do my own thing! My first party was at the Living Bar in Brixton 6 years ago. The night ended up being a massive success and it’s continued from there…
What’s unique about Shiva?
We have a good, mature crowd who are clued up on their house music that follow the brand and who still know how to have fun! We haven’t forgotten the music that people used to love and still love but we also move with the times by playing the latest sounds and giving our clubbers the best of both worlds.
Shiva music policy?
Uplifting vocal house, tech house, electro and even some techno thrown in our harder rooms. But, on the whole, it’s all uplifting, high-energy, feel-good music. Guaranteed!
Best guest you ever booked from a financial side?
Norman Jay. Without question. He was our most popular guest, musically, in our house room at Canvas and generated the most interest.
Plans for next year?
We have now locked down three parties at Pacha – which we’re very excited about. We also have a residency at Whitehouse in Clapham. There are a couple of other venues I’m looking at, too, in and outside London.
If you could book anyone in the world alive or dead who would you book?
Man of the moment for me is, David Guetta. I heard him in Ibiza and I love his sound!
