How long have you been promoting?

I’ve been promoting here on Koh Samui for the last ten years

What’s your history in the music industry?

After spending some early years gaining valuable experience in Ibiza I came to Thailand touring as a DJ. I soon became resident at the club where bar solo is located today. Over the next few years I started many successful projects around the islands, which included a 5 year residency at the full moon party and A residency at beach republic, along with my work at bar solo.

Tell us a bit more about Bar Solo over on Koh Samui…

Bar solo has grown into Samui’s favourite bar. It’s classy, we have great staff, nice cocktails, some really good resident DJ’s and live elements. We keep things fresh, and enjoyable and that’s why people keep coming back.

What music is pulling in the crowds over on the Thai islands at the moment?

Music wise holiday resorts will always have to play a commercial edge to their music, most of the clubs and bars will be pumping out David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia, and that’s understandable – its better that getting hip hop requested every five minutes like a few years ago, but you won’t catch me playing any!

Are there any particular names or brands particularly well doing over in there?

Sure MOS and hed kandi are regular visitors to the islands and they are always great parties.

Thailand isn’t necessarily known for cutting edge music – do you think this will ever change?

I do. At Solo and other leading venues such as Beach Republic and Nikki Beach we are booking big names with such frequency I believe the island is already undergoing an identity change, the rest of the holidays will hopefully catch up.

How do you feel the general vibe is with clubbing in Thailand at the moment? Has it been affected by the dip in the tourist trade?

It’s a good strong vibe, I haven’t seen a drop in tourist numbers, in fact I think it’s getting better all the time.

Do you still enjoy what you do?

I love it. I don’t think that will ever change

If you were to go to a night outside of your own promotions – where would you most like to you?

It would be a 2 way split between a day out at space in Ibiza and a night at DJ Hype’s night at Fabric in London

What do you want to achieve this year?

I just want to keep my residencies going in the right direction, keeping the venues I play at and promote for as busy as they are now!

If you could book any artist Dead or Alive who would you book?

I would book Tony De Vit (rip)

Which guests have played for you at Solo?

We have had lots of guests at solo, this year my favourites have been Marco Loco, LTJ Bukem and Krafty Kuts

Can you describe your clientele?

We have Samui’s cool crowd and a sprinkling of tourist, which gives us a nice mix

Like the track itself Abigail and Nick’s DJ sets have light and shade, mixing the Tech with lush vocals and infusing the underground with the soul.

Abigail Bailey, one of the world’s foremost House vocalists shot her to fame in 2005 when Herd and Fitz’s club anthem ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, stormed the charts, her collaboration with Tom Novy  -‘Runaway’ hit #4 in the Buzz Charts and her songwriting skills responsible for writing the top lines of many familiar tracks including of Chris Lake’s ‘Changes’. As well as touring the world with her unique DJs set and live vocals, a busy studio schedule, Abigail still has time to keep up her weekly radio show on Select Fm.

Nick Tcherniak has clocked up residencies at DTPM at Fabric, London, Fiction at The Cross, Heroes at Egg, London and Trade at venues including Ministry of Sound, Pulse and of course the clubs original home Turnmills whilst his Balearic Tech House sound gained him a weekly show on Ibiza Global Radio. Nick’s studio achievements include two number-one downloads for his co productions of ‘My People’ and ‘Deep Water’ and a UK club chart #5 with Kathy Brown Vs White Knights – ‘Sound of the City’.

Pray For More is the brainchild of Austrian born and raised DJ, Producer, Label Owner and Club Promoter, Roland Bartha.

He’s not a newcomer to this scene, having more than 25 years of experience behind the decks, including a 5 year Residency at one of Ibiza’s biggest and most prestigious clubs, Es Paradis Terrenal (1988 -1992).

During the same time he also played as a regular guest in some of the world’s best and most famous clubs in virtually every major capital.

At the end of 2009, Roland started to lay down the basics for his own label, Mjuzieek Digital, which started in July 2010 with its first release, of course by Pray for More, featuring Annette Taylor on vocals, and the rest is history as they say!

Mjuzieek Digital has been growing within only 16 months in business to one of the most hyped and respected labels in the “Funky House / Vocal House / Disco-Tech / Tribal House” genre, and is supported by all of the big ones and beyond!
