A highly talented producer, Liam’s has had his remixes commissioned by numerous labels, including 3Beat Blue, AATW, Neon (Australia) and Next Plateau (NYC). Liam’s mixes of Dizzie Rascal’s, Holiday and his remix’s of Katy Perry’s smash records California Gurls/Teenage Dream and Firework, have proved incredibly popular storming the airwaves at the likes of Galaxy Fm (Capital FM) in the UK and various Stations around the globe.

His love of house music stems back to his childhood, when acid/piano was filling dance floors across the UK. Pioneering this sound and making his it his own by adding a hint of electronic,
Aside from production, Liam is a popular DJ, who has held a number of residencies in the Merseyside area. He first had a taste of mixing aged 15, catching the DJ bug, and has never looked back, gaining a broader following from Djing around the UK, including the O2 Academy Newcastle and with the rest of the world calling be sure to check him out in a city near you. Fresh from his NYE/NYD mini tour of Austrailia has certainly kicked off 2012 with a bang with more big international gigs in the pipeline Liam has stamped his name firly on the international DJ stage

Liam also writes his own material and has some scheduled original releases due in 2012 with some big collaborations this is another area he is getting stronger in

After a big year in 2011 remixing for big dance artist’s like Romania’s Inna and Boy Better Know’s Skepta, Sway and even remixing for the big 80s band Erasure he seems to be going from strength to strength.

A triple-threat; remixer, producer and DJ, Liam is definitely one to watch

Widely considered to be one of the most talented up and coming producers, continually delivering club hits that have gained support from Pete Tong, Mark Knight, Eddie Halliwell and Gareth Emery, Matt’s fast rise through the house music ranks looks set to continue with his ex citing debut album on Toolroom Records.

‘Lost You’ is a world class delivery showcasing Matt’s penchant for big room club cuts alongside vocal classics and melodic masterpieces. Emotive vocal gems ‘Love Begins’ and ‘Rise Above It All’, featuring the talents of Ann Saunderson of Inner City fame, are two huge highlights sandwiched between mammoth anthems ‘Electric Kiss’, ‘Pretoria’ and ‘Never Enough’. Matt demonstrates his versatility with the tech infused beats ‘We Go’ and ‘Teko’, whilst venturing into dubstep with lead track ‘Lost You’ and disco vibes in ‘Disko’ to complete a stunning debut album from Matt Samuels.

Working alongside DJs such as Clive Henry, Rocky and Ashley Beedle lead her to become a regular behind the decks at the infamous Full Circle parties on Sunday afternoons.

Soon Jo was regularly playing at some of the greatest clubs of the time, especially in Ibiza, which these days is where she calls home. Having firmly stamped her mark on the island playing seminal clubs such as Pacha, Space and Amnesia she then began her residency for the now legendary Circo Loco. As one of the key players her Circo Loco residency spanned five amazing years and propelled her to the next level.

Over the years Jo’s musical talents have continued to flourish, not only as a DJ but also as a producer, 2010 saw “Lullaby’ released on Back to Basics. More recently Jo has teamed up with Gareth Whitehead from Bullet Dodge records, with their first single, ‘Pipe Dreams’ being snapped up by Pacha Recordings.

2011 saw Jo step up her DJ activity with appearances alongside Pete Tong in his Friday night Pacha Ibiza residency as well as her own residency at Blue Marlin. Back in the UK she has been a regular visitor to Southampton’s Junk Club and with a winter residency in Asia beckoning, there is plenty to come from this talented DJ/ Producer.

Hello Lads!

You’ve been promoting for quite a few years now – can you tell us how you got into doing this particular line of work?

Long story short, it goes back to my Uni times while I was studying in Newcastle, after going out for almost 4 years I got to know almost everyone up there and at our last year at Uni, I (Kiri) decided to throw a leaving party to thank all my friends who have been there for me at the old Foundation. Surprisingly my event was a complete sold out and I realised that I probably have the skills to get into it. Then, after working for a few years as an Engineer, I woke up one day and said that’s it, i don’t want to do this anymore so I formed a company called Magpie events with a good friend of mine… that’s how we started this journey.

Seeing as you are not just brothers but twins to boot – are there many arguments?!

Believe or not we don’t have that many arguments, even after being together and working very close for so many years… of course having the odd one here and there, but always constructive ones hehehe

Rhythmatic seems to have grown immensely as a brand in the last couple of years – why do you think this is?

We at Rhythmatic are very passionate about throwing a good party; we always keep pushing our brand and try to be innovative with our line ups, production and venue locations.

For anyone who hasn’t been – what would you say the musical style is like at your events?

We call it house music across the board and we always choose the Djs based on the quality of music.

And would you say you have a loyal crowd that follows each event?

We have to say that it took us quite a while to have a loyal crowd of Rhythmatic followers but we enjoyed the journey no matter how hard it was and it gives us great pleasure to say now that we see familiar faces all the time when we throw a party

What sets Rhythmatic apart from other nights in London do you think?

Friendliness of the crowd is a strong point in my opinion, people who come along to our nights are there for the atmosphere and production in our events and of course the quality of the music our artists and guests bring on the table each time.

You also team up and host the London parties for Barcelona’s Hideout imprint (run by Davide Squillace and Luca Bacchetti), Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour label, and also Mykonos’ club Cavo Paradiso – this has seen some incredible line ups being brought to the capital – how did this come about?

Well with the Cavo Paradiso is because our business partner and DJ, Stathis Lazarides, has a very close relationship with the club it was only natural to bring the brand to London. We booked Davide and Matthias, as part of the annual soirée with Cavo Paradiso in 2010 and they had a great time and also was their very first ever B2B 4 hours set in London and one of the most memorable events, people still talking about it and the year after we approached them and we asked them if we could host their label parties, and they both said yes.

I hear you will be doing more “intimate” parties and the large scale ones will be every few months this year – do you think this works better for your crowd?

It’s not what works better or not, the reason that we have come up with the Rhythmatic Intimate Sessions, is because we like to get close and personal with our crowd and also the Intimate Sessions will be booking some cool, but not so commercial names, rest assure you that this year we have enough projects (big and small) for everyone’s appetite. Maybe, you should come on the 4th Feb with Priku to see for yourself)

Minus’ Marco Carola was quoted as saying that your party was “his favourite of 2010” how did this feel to you guys at the time?

No real words to describe it, we were told by a friend of ours and we couldn’t believe it, it’s always good when you get remarks and feedback from people about your night like the one Marco said, we are so happy when the day after our projects you get texts and comments on facebook saying that people had a great time, when you run then events you don’t always get the time to enjoy them, and money don’t always bring happiness, great feedback do and that’s why we still do it.

Who has been your favourite booking?

We don’t really have a specific booking that stands out, all our guests and parties had something special to give, and either because of the music our guests played or because of the great vibe has been created because of our guests.

If you could book anyone dead or alive who would that be?

Kiri: Jimmy Hendrix, Kostas: Bob Marley

Last year saw you bringing the likes of Davide Squillace, Luca Bacchetti, Rhadoo, Petre Inspirescu, Matthias Tanzmann, Damian Schwartz and Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts to London to name but a few… What else do you have up your sleeves in 2012?

Unfortunately, you will have to wait for this, but let me assure you that we have some special events coming up,starting with Priku on the 4th of February and Herodot on the 3rd of March plus a few more exciting events soon to be announced

Jo Mills began to gain her extensive musical knowledge during the early 90’s at London’s Mecca for music enthusiasts, Flying Records.

Love To Be began its epic journey to the forefront of the UK Club scene back in 1994 at the Music Factory in Sheffield. Everyone who’s anyone has graced the Love To Be decks from MAW to Pete Tong so it’s great to catch up with Promoter, DJ, label boss and all round legend Tony Walker who tells us why it’s so important to stick to your musical guns.

Tony Walker from ‘Love To Be’

How long has your night been going: Since 1994

Where did it start: Music Factory, Sheffield

Where are you from? East London

How did you end up north: Through university, I went to Leeds Uni.

So you never left: No, not once I started DJ’ing. I like it up here and my family live here so I can’t leave now haha.

What you up to at moment: Doing Space in Leeds once a month which is going really well, getting 800 people every month. Also doing Plug in Sheffield, the Cotton Factory in Huddersfield, Havana in Wakefield, Tube in Halifax, Venus Manchester and Planet in Liverpool.

What’s the music policy at Love To be: More on the more soulful edge, we’re the only club up north doing what we do – trying to push the music forward, we like to support all the eras of house music.

Secret to the clubs longevity: We’re a collective of house DJs who have stuck to our musical guns.

Any plans to bring Love To Be down south: We do get down occasionally. We’ve done Ministry and Bar Rumba before. We definitely want to get something sorted we just need to plan it so we get enough people down to make the event special.

If you could book any artist alive or dead: Would have to be Ce Ce Rogers, he was absolutely awesome the energy he

brings is amazing.

Three tracks which sum up Love To Be: Ce Ce Rogers ‘Some Day’, Ruby Turner ‘Never Going To Give You Up’ and Brand New Heavies ‘Back To Love’

What’s the North saying at the minute: There’s definitely a sound coming out of Leeds integrating electro and bass line especially with the younger DJs and to me it can get a bit boring. You still got Basics pushing the boundaries and the Warehouse but as a whole the big events are the student nights which is a real reflection of people having less money in their pockets, it’s not easy up here at the moment – look at Luminar.

People are still clubbing, the institutions are still doing well which is good to see although there is a lack of good house nights, lack of soulful house nights, which to me are the best nights.

Plans for the future: Get our record label up and running, we got an aggregated deal which puts us on all the relevant down laod platforms – looking to tour the brand, did Space this summer and looking to take the tour Europewide – will be in Majorca again at club M, also looking at doing Love To Be TV linked up with clubaholic TV.

Before you go I got to ask. You’re an east London lad living up north – you do you support: Spurs
