Young promoters are the life blood of our scene and thats why we at AOD are always happy to help promising nights when they come along. Nightowl is a great party run by brothers Charlie and Dean – with big plans and a positive attitude you’re likely to be hearing more from this up and coming London night.
Name: Charlie Longley
Occupation: Promoter
Age: 21
Clubs you used to go to: Turnmills / Ministry of Sound / Pacha
First promotion you put on: The first ever party we put on was a Thursday night in Bromley.
How did Nightowl come about: We had quite a few friends that we’re DJ’s but no where in our area played house music. So we decided to put on a party of our own, first of all it was just friends and friends of friends dancing to good music and it grew from there.
Music policy: Big room House
If you could book anyone DJ alive or dead: If I could book any DJ then it would have to be Erick Morillo! When I first started clubbing I went to the Ministry of Sound and he was playing a 7 hour set in the box. After that night I was hooked!
Three records that sum up Nightowl: Dirty South – Let it Go, Mark Knight & Funkagenda – Man with the red face, Cece Peniston – Finally (Bart B More remix)
What’s it like working with your brother Dean: We have always been very close, so it doesn’t seem out of the ordinary to run a party together. We have had some great highs and experiences together.
How do you see London’s club scene at the moment: It’s been a tough year in clubland with clubs closing and some promoters folding but things are really looking up! There are quality parties on every weekend and things are constantly changing. Only the best parties can with stand the pressure of a recession!
Where do you see Nightowl going in the future: For the immediate future we will be continuing with our residency at Pacha London, aswell as hosting 103 at the Ministry of Sound. To keep it fresh, we like to throw the odd warehouse party once in a while and have a very special party planned for November 27th. Going into 2011 and beyond.. we’re rolling out our new club tour package so keep an eye out for that!
Our next party is at Pacha London on Saturday 16th October, we have got MYNC from CR2 records headlining the bill – For full event info visit – http://www.thisisnightowl.com/
